PROJECT CONTEXT

The Parish of Nuestra Señora de Balvanera is one of Buenos Aires’ historic parish temples, actively used for religious services and community gatherings.

The intervention focused on the restoration of the church’s marble altar, requiring precise surface cleaning methods capable of removing deposits while preserving delicate stone craftsmanship.

The project also marked the early introduction of IBIX® micro-abrasion systems in Argentine heritage restoration.

TECHNICAL CONDITIONS

• Historic marble altar with accumulated deposits and surface discoloration
• Delicate carved stone elements requiring controlled non-destructive cleaning
• Restoration work carried out inside an active religious environment
• Limited intervention time due to ongoing liturgical use

TECHNOLOGIES USED

IBIX® Micro-Abrasion Cleaning, Controlled Marble Surface Cleaning, Non-Destructive Restoration Methods

TECHNICAL ROLE

The intervention introduced IBIX® micro-abrasion technology for marble cleaning within the local restoration context.

Cleaning parameters were carefully controlled to remove surface deposits while preserving carved stone details and historic material integrity.

Technical documentation and visual reporting supported coordination between local teams and international restoration advisors.

PROJECT OUTCOME

The intervention restored the visual clarity of the historic marble altar while preserving its craftsmanship and material authenticity.

The project also demonstrated the effectiveness of controlled micro-abrasion cleaning systems for marble conservation within active heritage environments.
